Papers of David Hunter Strother, 1840, 1876, 1885.

The collection contains Strother's 1840 United States passport with the official stamps of various Italian places visited. A letter, 1885 February 14, to Mrs. E.L. Merrill, in reply to a letter of praise for his work, discusses his enjoyment of the time he spent gathering ferns and wildflowers in Virginia as a youth. Four photographs include a signed cabinet photograph, 1877, and three very faded snapshots, ca. 1879?" labeled "A palm flower" (his wife?), "Thru' Light to Height," and "A bit of 'Pomona.'"
